Roger Loves Betty...
Once upon a time there was a boy called Roger (also known as Tim Oxley ) and a girl called Betty (also known as Jodi Phillis ). Roger came from a very interesting musical family. Betty came from the Clouds . They met long ago and fell in love after many years of friendship. They got married and moved to the Escarpment. The Escarpment is a place of great majesty, peace and tranquillity and it wasn't long before the boy and the girl decided that making beautiful music together was their destiny.
Inspired by the enchanting Forest and the powerful Ocean, they continued to combine their creative talents and soon their music could be heard all over the escarpment. People came from far and wide to listen to their music and watch them play. In time they wrote, recorded, mixed and produced their songs in their kitchen, which is now known as the home of The Kitchen Recording House.
Their debut Album is called Let Love Begin . It is an Album filled with timeless, world class, classic pop and stands as a celebration of true love and happiness. It reveals a world filtered through the eyes of two slightly off-beat and at times, melancholic characters. Within a framework of acoustic and electric guitars, drums, bass, whistling solos and lush orchestral arrangements, including sitar and beer bottles, their lyrics of wisdom and innocence combine with honey dripping boy-girl harmonies to create a trippy but somehow, always cosy atmosphere.
Others have made reference to Simon & Garfunkel, The Carpenters, the Mammas and the Pappas, Les Paul and Mary Ford. There is a resemblance to The Dearhunters, Jodi and Tim's supergroup from 1999. In the past Tim and Jodi's solo records received critical acclaim and Rolling Stone tagged Jodi a "National Treasure". Now, in life, love and music they have joined forces as Roger Loves Betty and the result is devastatingly brilliant.
With the help of some neighbours, they bring their music to you and invite you to listen to LET LOVE BEGIN the Album and a first single of the same name.
